22 lessons i have picked up along the way for the past 21 years. They have guided me, they could guide you as well.

You have to be strong in order to live through this world. There are very many challenges disappointments that we all face and without strength, it’s not easy to overcome them much less be able to live past them. Most times it is the hardship we face and overcome that make us strong. As the saying goes, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” But we need strength at all times no matter the situation. Whether happy or sad, healthy or unwell we need to be strength because strength motivates to keep going. It’s what keeps us motivated hoping to overcome whatever challenges we might face. Our own strength can even be a motivation, an inspiration to someone else. It can even be a challenge for someone to revise their actions. When you go to the hospital to visit someone who’s sick and instead you get there and they start preaching to you or you find them with so much hope, it challenges you to be better and instils strength in you as well. Being strong keeps you motivated, it’s a source of hope. Turn your weaknesses into ultimate strength by taking advantage of the trials and using them to make you a better person.  Learn to believe in yourself at your lowest point and learn to let go of any weaknesses and negativity.

“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through a hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Each day is a new day. It comes with new ideas, new experiences and you make new memories every new day. I have learnt to have an attitude to learn at all times. Not just from class but from anyone, anything and anywhere. Learn from the people you talk to, from what happens to you, what you do and how you do it and from the mistakes you make. Learn from all the good things that happen and all the bad things. Today can never be like yesterday and even if you have the same routine, there is always one thing that every new day brings to us. One way you can be able to learn is by being involved in different activities with different people in different places. Involve yourself in things that will be of help to you and you will have to learn something that will make you better.

“You learn something every day if you pay attention.” – Ray LeBlond

Your attitude and the attitude of the people you surround yourself with affects you so much. If you surround yourself with the wrong people, you might never shift from where you are. But if you surround yourself with the right people – people who give you the right advice, people that correct you when you make a mistake, people that encourage you, people that pray for and with you – you will surely strive. Surroundings don’t just include people. Even the materials we use. You can’t be fighting an alcohol addiction and you decide to work in a bar. Surround yourself with things that will make you better. Wake up each day with positive vibes that you will have a great day. Go for that job interview positive that you will get the job.

“Your outlook upon life, your estimate of yourself, your estimate of your value are largely colored by your environment. Your whole career will be modified, shaped, molded by your surroundings, by the character of the people with whom you come in contact every day.” – Orison Swett Marden

If there are things we do and never gain anything good from, it’s hating and being angry. Carrying hate within your heart and anger is useless. You carry someone within your heart while they enjoy their life happy and unbothered. You get angry at something and instead of finding a solution you waste your time quarreling and grumbling. Even the bible tells us to love our enemies. Resist from hate and try to be at peace with everyone. Resist from anger because it only feeds on your poor soul taking away all your happiness. Learn to resist from hatred and anger because they never lead us anywhere except regretting our actions while under their influence. Be jolly, be happy, love and you will be loved.

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” – Buddha

“Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.” – Maya Angelou
